Photoarchives Nenad Gattin

Personal legacy of the photographer Nenad Gattin (Trogir, 10 August 1930 – Zagreb, 19 April 1988) is part of IAH Photoarchives since 2016. It gathers the collection of around 23 000 b/w photographic negatives (registered by the central Croatian cultural heritage register since 1991) as well as photoalbums with author's prints.

Parallel with the study in art history Nenad Gattin worked as professional photographer of the Department of art history at the University of Zagreb (since 1954). Since then he has continuously and intensively started to document artistic and architectural heritage, closely collaborating with eminent art historians as Branko Fučić, Cvito Fisković, Radovan Ivančević, Grgo Gamulin, Milan Prelog, Vera Horvat Pintarić, Mladen Pejaković and others.

Since 1964 he was member of ULUPUH (Croatian Association of Artists of Applied Arts).

His photomonographs on Juraj Dalmatinac, Dubrovnik, Master Radovan, Diocletian's palace, old Croatian sacral heritage, Istrian frescoes are examples of excellence in authorial interpretation of cultural heritage in Croatia and the region.

His last monographic exhibition was held in Gallery Klovićevi dvori in Zagreb and Umjetnička galerija Dubrovnik (The Museum of Modern Art Dubrovnik) in 2006., curated by Marina Viculin and Marija Gattin.
